Introducing ripstop. As the name suggests, ripstop is designed to help stop rips from becoming bigger rips. The fabric is woven with a reinforced grid pattern, so if it does get caught on something, the damage is less likely to keep travelling through the material.
It's been used for years in everything from outdoor gear to workwear and military kit, basically anywhere that fabric needs to put up with a bit of abuse. We've gone for an 8oz cotton ripstop with 2% stretch. It's durable without feeling overly technical, has the familiar feel of cotton and just enough give to keep things comfortable when you're moving around.
For its first season, we're putting it to work across two very different styles.

The Throwshirt
The Throwshirt has been around for a while. In fact, it was the first top KAVU ever made, originally introduced in 1996. Quite a run for one shirt.
For AW26, the KAVU Klassic gets a new lease of life in 8oz cotton stretch ripstop. The original Throwshirt details are still here, including the full zip mock neck, chest zip pocket, lower hand pockets and gusseted underarms. There's also adjustable cuffs and a back drop-tail hem, because we weren't quite finished tinkering with it.
It's still the Throwshirt. Just made from something that's ready to take a bit more of a beating.

The Round A Bout Pants
The Round A Bout Pants are brand new to the KAVU pant collection. Built around a loose, wide-leg fit, these are the kind of pants that give you plenty of room to move . The full elastic waist and drawcord keep things comfortable, while the hand pockets are reinforced with beefy top stitching. There's also reinforced back patch pockets and double-needle stitching throughout bringing some extra durability to a relaxed everyday pant.
They're roomy. They're comfortable. They're built to be used.

Ripstop might have a fairly serious reputation, but there's no need to overthink it. It's simply a good, hard-wearing fabric that makes sense for clothes that are going to get worn, washed, packed, dragged around and generally put through their paces.
